Experience your practice on a whole new level by sensing, feeling and moving from a deeper place than what meets the eye in this unique yoga class. Find space to disentangle yourself from outside input and consider ways of being from a different perspective.
The most powerful dimension of blindfolded practice is the exploration of pratyahara - the fifth limb of yoga, which can be seen as the bridging force between external and internal yoga practices. Pratyahara is about withdrawing your senses from the external world and moving within, gazing at the mystery of everything inside yourself.
When sight is removed from your yoga practice, there’s no choice but to turn inward. Without distractions that come from looking around the room, you’ll be able to deepen your ability to focus on the inner sensory and energetic experience of the body. The present moment will be magnified, you will tune deeper into your breath, feel the sensations of your body moving and allow your body’s intelligence to guide you into a profound state of relaxation, expanded self-awareness and inner stability.
The sequence will be simple and easy to follow. We will be moving slowly, practicing mindfully and holding poses longer. At the end we will deepen our experience of pratyahara with shanmukhi mudra, dive into inner stillness by closing all six gates of perception and finish with a guided meditation in shavasana.
Please bring a light blindfold (scarf or similar). If you are not comfortable being blindfolded, you can still attend and keep your eyes closed. All levels welcome!
