If you’re into cycling, Dubai can actually be pretty great once you know where to go. Sure, the heat can be brutal most of the year, so early mornings or evenings are your best bet unless you’re a desert-loving warrior. One of my favorite spots has to be Al Qudra Cycle Track out in the desert , it’s long, quiet, and you pass a few surprise lakes that are perfect for a quick rest. Not many tourists know about it, so you get some peace and quite a few friendly local riders.

Downtown Dubai and around Jumeirah have some nice paved paths if you prefer city scenery with plenty of cafes to grab a cool drink after. Also, the Nad Al Sheba Cycle Park is where I saw some serious cyclists training. It’s a closed circuit and much cooler to ride than open roads. Quick tip: bring your own water bottle and protect yourself from the sun, but don’t forget a cycling cap or helmet to keep those rays out of your eyes.

Rentals are easy to find , some cafes also rent bikes which is super convenient if you travel light. Just don’t expect a casual Sunday ride without spotting a few lycra-clad serious cyclists dressed like they’re in the Tour de France. Dubai’s cycling community is growing fast, and it’s a nice way to see the city from a different pace, literally.

Listen, the sun is no joke in Dubai. Don’t rely on sunscreen alone; a light cycling cap under your helmet makes a huge difference to keep sweat and sun out of your eyes.
