Ferry Sightseeing in Dubai

If you’ve never seen Dubai from the water, a ferry sightseeing trip really changes your perspective on the city. The cool breeze, the quiet hum of the boat, and those views of the city’s stunning skyscrapers from Dubai Marina or the old dhow docks by Deira give you a totally different vibe than the usual desert or street shots. And the best time? Early evening when the light softens but the buildings are still lit, or early morning when Dubai Creek is calm and peaceful.

One of my favorite routes is cruising from Dubai Marina down to Palm Jumeirah. You get to see the luxury yachts up close and that famous Atlantis hotel popping up in the distance. The quieter water routes around Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood offer a nice contrast too – it feels a bit like stepping back before the city boom. Heads up: If you want to skip the tourist-heavy decks, choose smaller ferry operators that sail out of Al Ghubaiba. They’re cheaper and more relaxed.

Pro tip: Carry a light jacket, even on warm days. The breeze on the water surprises you. And don’t be shy to chat with the locals onboard, they often share stories about hidden spots only locals know.
